PRA consultants (which include business analysts, Six Sigma and Lean analysts and PMPs) bring years of experience to the task of analyzing and improving business processes. Organizations accomplish their work through processes. Identifying processes allows the examiner to understand what the organization does or produces (its outputs); what steps must be followed to create the output; who owns the process; who uses the outputs (customers); and whether the process is deficient, i.e., whether there is a significant gap between current performance and expected performance. Deficient processes will, of course, contribute to poor performance and will have some budgetary impact.
We work closely with management and staff to identify which processes to analyze and then to develop a baseline of current performance. We identify process flows and document performance in accordance with agreed standard formats (including details of inputs, outputs, interfaces and relationships, organizational structures and responsible officers. In addition, we seek user feedback and amend documentation as necessary. We identify information technology levers that may increase efficiency or performance. We design and build a prototype of the new process which may involve modifying the existing process; replacing the existing process with a new process; or, creating a totally new process.
